Impact & Fund Development Manager
Eligibility Requirements:
Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period;
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, or international student* for the duration of the program;
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and
Will not be holding another Canada Summer Jobs position at the same time.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Identifying sources of grant funding (foundations, government, corporations, etc.) and maintaining a positive relationship with their funding officer(s)
Having a clear understanding of the Organization and its affiliates’ histories, missions, and goals in order to adequately identify and apply to funding opportunities that reflect the organizations’ needs
Working alongside the executive team to identify funding goals and opportunities
Writing, proofreading and submitting grant applications with a high degree of language proficiency
Maintaining a grants database that clearly identifies grants that will be applied to, are in the process of being written, and have been submitted. The database should also indicate funding that was granted and applications that were not accepted.
Receiving feedback from granting bodies if applications are not accepted.
Re-applying to grants with feedback or use feedback in future grant applications for ongoing improvement and skills development
Writing our 2023 Impact Report
Creating optional demographic surveys to keep track of the Organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion metrics
Working on the Monitoring, Learning, Evaluation and Reporting for our grants
Helping us put together our charitable status application
Setting up meetings with donors
Developing survey templates to track quantitative and qualitative metrics for our team, initiatives and events
Editing our website to outline impact made to date
Other
Understanding of the organization, its purpose, history, policies and programs
Represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner in videos and in meetings
Delegation or sharing of duties with others as necessary
Other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
Proven work experience in grant writing
Grant writing skills and in-depth knowledge of funders in the environment
Familiarity with databases
Basic knowledge of grant writing processes
Previous experience writing grant proposals
Assets:
Course completion in grant writing fundamentals
Proven working experience working at an environmental non-profit writing grants and putting together impact reports
Bilingualism in English and French
