Web Developer

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, or international student* for the duration of the program;

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and

  • Will not be holding another Canada Summer Jobs position at the same time.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with management to discuss the plan and needs of an updated website

  • Collaborating with team members to determine the website’s layout and content

  • Using coding, AI tools and other plugins to enhance the functionality of the website

  • Integrating graphics, tools, animations, and video into the website

  • Developing guides and Loom videos to assist other team members in learning how to update the website

  • Creating and testing applications for the website

  • Integrating Google Ads and Analytics into the website

  • Monitoring Google Ads performance and website traffic and making adjustments accordingly

Other 

  • Understanding of the organization, its purpose, history, policies and programs

  • Represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner in videos and in meetings

  • Delegation or sharing of duties with others as necessary 

  • Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience in web programming

  • Familiarity with programming languages

  • Basic knowledge of SEO processes

  • A portfolio of work building other websites available for the assessment of skills in web development during application process

Assets:

  • Course completion in Beginner and/or Advanced Google Analytics

  • Proven working experience in SEO and Google Analytics

  • Bilingualism in English and French
