Green Career Development Specialist

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, or international student* for the duration of the program;

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and

  • Will not be holding another Canada Summer Jobs position at the same time.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development of our youth green career tools and resources (i.e. wage subsidy tool, green jobs boards, resume and CV tips for youth green jobs, mentorship guide, green skills mapping tool, etc.)

  • Brainstorming ways to monetize tools and resources for green employers

  • Work with community partners to co-create and cross-promote youth green career development tools

  • Develop workshop content on green jobs, skills, careers and sustainable pathways to present in partnership with community partners

  • Host virtual workshop to offer youth professional development and green career development support

  • Plan for the in-person Green Career Fair event hosted in the winter of 2025

  • Conduct outreach for our annual LinkedIn Sustainability Influencer as well as our Women in Sustainability Freelancer features

  • Assist in the creation and development of youth green skills training program

Other 

  • Understanding of the organization, its purpose, history, policies and programs

  • Represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner in videos and in meetings

  • Delegation or sharing of duties with others as necessary 

  • Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • Passion for helping youth attain good green jobs

  • Knowledge of career development tools and resources

Assets:

  • Experience working on career development

  • Experience leading research projects

  • Experience with event management and leading workshops

  • Bilingualism in English and French
