Green Career Events Specialist

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, or international student* for the duration of the program;

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and

  • Will not be holding another Canada Summer Jobs position at the same time.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conducting outreach to key stakeholders involved in our Green Career Fair, career development workshops/webinars, Sustainability Snapshot Series and other networking events

  • Liaising with vendors, caterers, speakers, participants and employers for our Green Career Fair, career development workshops/webinars, Sustainability Snapshot Series and other networking events

  • Conducting research and on event caterers, employers, sponsors and inputting information into a centralized spreadsheet

  • Developing marketing campaigns to increase participation in green events

  • Gather, track and report quantitative and qualitative data for career development projects in line with our funders’ expectations (i.e. via event feedback surveys)

  • Creating event speaking materials such as presentations and slide decks

  • Drafting, editing and sending event communications materials such as press releases, emails and other communications as necessary to relevant stakeholders

Other 

  • Understanding of the organization, its purpose, history, policies and programs

  • Represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner in videos and in meetings

  • Delegation or sharing of duties with others as necessary 

  • Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • Passion for helping youth attain good green jobs

  • Knowledge of career development tools and resources

Assets:

  • Experience working on career development

  • Experience leading research projects

  • Experience with event management and leading workshops

  • Bilingualism in English and French
